Customer Needs

Based on interviews with the team guide and faculty members and discussion amongst the team members, the needs assessment that originated from the Project Readiness Package, was revised as necessary and finalized.

Four main needs were identified. Each main need is comprised of several sub-needs that addressed the customer's needs on a more detailed level.

The four main needs require that the solar pasteurizer be:

• ECONOMIC - inexpensive to purchase, own, and operate on the user's end while providing a means of making profit from a business standpoint in order to mass produce the product
• SAFE - not dangerous to operate or maintain and deny access from children and animals
• VERSATILE - easily integrated both socially and culturally into a rural community
• EASY TO OPERATE - provide a means of operation for the less educated by not having to require operator to read instructions or constantly watch over the system while in operation
