Preliminary Work Breakdown Structure

Three Week Project Plan
Person Week 0->1 Tasks (before 12/7/07)

Team: Meet with customer to refine needs, ask questions, and observe current device. Begin benchmarking similar products. Assign team member roles and review this 3-week project plan. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Week 1->2 Tasks (12/7/07-12/14/07)

Team: Finalize customer needs and begin creating design specifications. Discuss results of week 1 benchmarking. Begin developing preliminary design concepts. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Week 2->3 Tasks (12/14/07-12/21/07)

Team: Review needs and specifications with customer. Begin formalizing design concepts, including research into how each could be implemented. Lay out plan for remainder of SDI. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Shadle Stewart (ME Student 1) Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on commercial devices. Work with PT to finalize a list of desired obstacles and surfaces. Continue background research, with focus on modular floor plans; revise associated needs; create associated specifications. Work with ME2 and ISE to develop preliminary design concepts for desired obstacles. Work with ME2 and ISE on feasibility studies for different obstacle course design ideas. Communicate with tracking subgroup as design ideas develop.
Jared Berman (ME Student 2) Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on patents. Compile findings of all course and obstacle benchmark studies to date, summarize and highlight relevant findings to share with team and customer. Work with ME1 and ISE to develop preliminary design concepts for desired obstacles. Work with ME1 and ISE on feasibility studies for different obstacle course design ideas. Document results to share with rest of team.
Nicolette McGeorge (ISE Student) Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on patents and commercial products. Meet with the customer to get feedback on current design possibilities. Prepare for and participate in Concept Design Review. Begin detailing specifications for interface between course and tracking subsystems.
