Project 08541
Project Overview
This project is designed to be an expansion of an already existing technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology Center for Imaging Science. The science of goniophtometry has been researched worldwide for numerous applications. This project is applying the technology to measure the gloss surface characteristics of printed images. Gloss is an optical phenomenon caused when evaluating the appearance of a surface. The evaluation of gloss describes the capacity of a surface to reflect directed light. Goniophtometry is a field that integrates the measurement of gloss from a variety of angles. In doing so, far more information can be obtained about the actual gloss properties of the item.
