Roadmap Summary Roadmap Information
 7 types of waste

7 types of waste

Wegmans corporation is always looking for ways to continuously improve their processes to a more lean environment. Continuous improvement comes from lean thinking. Lean Manufacturing focuses on eliminating the 7 "wastes" or "muda" as it is called in the Toyota Production System. The Wegmans Bakery has been in business for over 50 years, and has much opportunity for improvement. The Culinary Center, yet not as old as the Bakery, also has much oppotunity for improvement.

This project will look at the current state of both the Wegmans Bakery and Culinary Center to identify areas of improvement. A project roadmap will be created to show project prioritization of improvement projects to be done in the Bakery and Culinary Center. Using the project roadmap the team will choose projects and prepare project readiness packages for those areas which are of highest priority.
