DPM: Design Project Management

Welcome to Design Project Management

This course is required for students enrolled in the dual degree Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degree programs in Mechanical and Industrial/Systems Engineering at RIT. Students in this course are typically in their fourth or fifth year of study at RIT, and usually take DPM relatively early in the graduate portion of their dual degree program of study. Generally, they are supposed to take DPM prior to their completion of the undergraduate capstone design courses, Multidisciplinary Senior Design I and II. Dual degree students in DPM are expected to take on a peer leadership / management role in their capstone design project. Students in the BS/MEng program, and hence DPM, have expressed interest in developing their leadership skills and pursuing a career path that may include a technical leadership position. Students interested in product development and technical leadership development may choose to take DPM as an elective, and may not continue on with a senior design team commitment after the conclusion of DPM.
