Description: A 180-degree array of sensors will feed information to a microcontroller to determine where objects are around a person. The system will then relay that information to the user through the use of haptic sensors. A forward-facing camera will also be in place to recognize key objects in the environment. The primary purpose of the project is to allow a level of independence to the blind and visually impaired that service dogs cannot give. The blind explore and interpret the world in a fundamentally different way than people who are able to see. The blind must rely on their hearing heavily, but if they are in a loud environment they are severely hindered. Using sensors and haptic feedback the user will be able to navigate extremely noisy environments with ease as they will not need to rely on their ears to find their way.
