Description:
|
This course gives students an opportunity to
understand the basic concepts of engineering design,
through the solution of an open-ended design problem.
Students will learn about project definition, concept
development, feasibility assessment, managing design
parameter tradeoffs using engineering analysis, and
developing a preliminary design drawing package.
Teams of students will develop a drawing package and
working prototype of a mechanical device, and compete
in alliances of design teams against other alliances
for awards. This course is intended to prepare
students for future ME and multi-disciplinary design
courses and co-op. Prerequisite(s): First Year
Standing in Mechanical Engineering
