Project Description: | First Stage Solid Rocket |
Project track: | Aerospace Systems |
DPM (Planning) term: | 2006-3 |
SD1 (Starting) term: | 2007-1 |
SD2 (Ending) term: | 2007-3 |
Description: |
We will build heavily on the progress made by the
P07105 team to design and manufacture the 1st (and
largest) stage of the rocket. The propulsion system
will be a hybrid rocket system consisting of solid
fuel and liquid/gaseous oxidizer. For our stage, we
will: * Obtain desired level of thrust output by designing: o Nozzle geometry o Fuel-grain geometry o Oxidizer flow rate o Effective ignition system * Strive to improve the structure-to-fuel weight ratio by designing: o Light-weight pressure vessel o Titanium outer structure * Investigate thrust-vectoring feasibility |
