April 10, 2006 Flight 001

- Student design plane

- Plane GC set for stability and slightly faster airspeed.

- 2 to 3 taxi flights show landing gear mount is weak and makes plane wobble on take off

- A tail wheel coupled with rudder would make take offs much smoother.

- Takeoff distance approximated to 50 feet

- Airborne flight: Gracies is too small of a field-next flight to be at Black Creek.

- Plane very well powered in this weight configuration.

- Very responsive, could make all control surfaces with less throw very easily

- Wing attachment easily withheld a high G turn.

- Landing: Plane drops rapidly with no power.

- Bringing back CG will slow approach speed.

April 20, 2006 Flight 002

- Student design plane

- Black creek under construction

- Flew at nearby high school

- Added 3.5 lbs of weight

- Crashed after tip stall

- Ailerons not reactive at all

- Video taken

May 7, 2006 Flight 003

- Student design plane

- Removed weight

- Damage from crash to Lipo pack necessitated use of NiMh packs

- Erratic flight

- Made a few laps with not very much control

- Was unable to take off with solid prop

- NiMh batteries lasted only for about a 3 minute flight after 2 takeoff attempts

- Only explanation for erratic flight I can image is that bringing the cg slightly backward made the plane to unstable.

- During flight, ailerons still seemed to not be fully functional just like last flight

- Discovered that using the rudder was the best functional way to control the airplane.

- This is very unusual

September 13, 2006 Flight 004

- Telemaster

- 100 yard hop first attempt

- A lot of aileron trim required

- Second attempt still more right aileron trim

- Harder nose over landing, broke prop

- Unstable, need to adjust CG

- Stall speed noted to be much less than Student design

- Very responsive elevator control, adjust CG back

September 19, 2006 Flight 005

- Telemaster

- Still poor aileron response

- Broke prop on hard landing

- Landing gear weak

September 25, 2006 Flight 006 - Telemaster

- Plane much more stable with adjusted CG

- Still too much aileron trim needed

- Wing found to be badly warped

- Ready for Lipo pack and AP50

October 1, 2006 Flight 007

- Telemaster

- 3 successful test flights with AP50

- Flight data logged

- AP50 momentarily froze with ground link use

- Plane almost lost

- Plane still unstable, but useable for continued testing

- Prop broke

October 5, 2006 Flight 008

- Telemaster

- Gear moved forward to help CG and keep tail down on take off

- Gear movement may have caused higher speed for take off

- Collision with RIT sign upon take off attempt

- Plane destroyed beyond repair

-AP50 and electronics ok

October 7, 2006 Flight 009

- Hobbistar

- First flight

- Flys perfect in every way

- Very stable

- Good airspeed

- Flown only with Futaba radio

October 15, 2006 Flight 010

- Hobbistar

- First test flight with AP50

- 3 PID loop speed runs completed

- High wind, will repeat for comparison

October 21, 2006 Flight 011

- Hobbistar

- Completed 4 test flights with AP50

- Logged flight data for PID analysis

- 3 autonomous flight attempts after inputting way points

- Plane climbs and stalls

- Throttle linkage on engine failure

- Nose gear linkage failure

October 24, 2006 Flight 012

- Hobbistar

- 3 test flights completed

- Achieved semi- autonomous flight

- AP50 controls pitch and yaw, pilot controls rudder and throttle

- Still have PID issues with full autonomous fight attempts

October 27, 2006 Flight 013

- Hobbistar

- GPS took very long to link up today

- Kicked off campus

- No flight testing completed

October 31, 2006 Flight 014

- Hobbistar

- 2 successful test flights

- Several instances of semi autonomous flight

- Several attempts & adjustments made to PID for full autonomous

- AP50 failure

- Plane locked out Futaba PIC mode

- 3 hour search for plane

- Plane destroyed

- AP50 intact, but unresponsive
