Summary: P07007 Adapted Home Entry
Description
The ARC of Monroe County has several residences in the area for individuals with various disabilities. One house has two residents who are unable to open the front door to their home due to their physical disabilities. During the 2005-06 academic year, an RIT senior design team designed and built a mechanism that would allow entry into the home using a remote control. The hardware for this design is functional, but the control system does not function properly and must be redesigned. This year's team is tasked with designing a new control system to work with the existing hardware. The completed project will allow the two individuals who use the device to gain entry into their home independently, which will significantly improve their quality of life.
