Preliminary Work Breakdown Structure

WBS excel file
Three Week Project Plan
Person Week 0->1 Tasks

Team: Meet with customer to refine needs, ask questions, and observe current device. Begin benchmarking similar products. Assign team member roles and review this 3-week project plan. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Week 1->2 Tasks

Team: Finalize customer needs and begin creating design specifications. Discuss results of week 1 benchmarking. Begin developing preliminary design concepts. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Week 2->3 Tasks

Team: Review needs and specifications with customer. Begin formalizing design concepts, including research into how each could be implemented. Lay out plan for remainder of SDI. Attend class and meet with Guide.

Ryan Hellems Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on published technical literature. Research, measure, or calculate safe speeds for height adjustment. Continue background research, with focus on mechanisms to raise and lower bars; revise associated needs; create associated specifications. Work with ME4 on narrowing options for moving bars. Document results to share with rest of team.
Justin Knowles Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on patents. Continue background research, with focus on mechanisms to raise and lower bars; communicate results to ME1. Begin static and fatigue analysis of existing system. Finish analysis of existing system and document results to share with rest of team. Use ME4/Wk2 results to begin developing ideas on how to interface new system with existing facilities.
Jeff Osborne Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on patents.
Justin Vowles Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on commercial products. Research, measure, or calculate safe speeds for height adjustment. Continue background research, with focus on mechanisms to raise and lower bars; communicate results to ME1; Document interface with existing system (i.e., floor mount and attachment point(s) to bars). Work with PT and ISE on narrowing options for PT interface. Document results to share with rest of team. Work with ME1 on ideas for control system.
Jessica Stalker Begin benchmarking existing solutions for similar systems, with focus on published technical literature and commercial products. Become familiar with EDGE website maintenance. Continue background research, with focus on patient use of parallel bars; revise associated needs; create associated specifications. Begin documenting current safety practices Work with PT on ideas for PT and patient interface. Document results to share with rest of team.
