The overhead cost of the assembly is 1400.00 dollars

Reduce the Cost of Components

The cost of the original design was over $20,000.00 dollars and this needed to be reduced. The portion that needed to be redesigned were the linear stages because the total was near $16,000.00 for the linear stages from the Aerotech company. The linear stages from Aerotech were eliminated and replaced with linear stages from Thorlabs. The linear stages from Thorlabs were comparable or better than that of Aerotech. The linear stages from Aerotech were made for industrial atmosphere while Thorlabs linear stage are intended for a lab atmosphere.
