D There is a limited amount of documentation.A new team could understand and build a device from documents provided with up to 50% rework needed. Concepts not thoroughly thought out and developed. The team has not completed design selection and lacks engineering analysis to do so. The dynamometer has limited capabilities. It cannot support the required range of motor sizes desired (Can only function with one motor size). Works with all off the shelf components with no modifications. The subsystems operate with a minimal level of communication. The overall system is difficult to understand and is complicated for the user.
C There is a satisfactory amount of documentation.A new team could understand and build a device from documents provided with no more than 25% rework needed. Concepts have been somewhat thought out and developed. The team has completed design selection but has not developed subsystem platforms. The team demonstrated a minimal level of engineering analysis. A bill of materials or cost analysis has been completed. The dynamometer has a moderated level of ability (Can support a small range of motor sizes, but not to the full extent required) It can monitor most desired quantities but lack full characterization abilities. Supports the required range of motor sizes desired. Works with mainly off the shelf components but has some technical modifications. The team demonstrated some use of engineering skills acquired. The subsystems operate at a satisfactory level. The overall system is somewhat complicated to understand and not very user friendly.
B There is a good amount of documentation. A new team could understand and build a device from documents provided with no more than 15% rework needed. Concepts have be thought out and developed. The team has completed design selection but the subsystem platform development is in the beginning phases. Enough engineering analysis has been completed to verify the design. A bill of materials has been started but lacks any cost analysis. The dynamometer has a good level of capability (Can support a variety of motor sizes ranging from the 1 kg up to the 100kg ,but does not meet the required factor of safety of 5) . It has full characterization capabilities but is not optimized. Supports the required range of motor sizes desired and the desired factor of safety. The design uses a moderate level of technical innovation, but is mainly an optimized version of the previous design. The team demonstrated good use of engineering skills acquired. The subsystems operate at a satisfactory level and can be easily adapted to changing platforms. The overall system is easily understood with a few more complicated operations.

All components of the design were verified tote acceptable through engineering analysis. A bill of materials has been has been started and the team has developed a cost analysis. The dynamometry has a wide range of capability (Can support the full range of motor sizes including motors with characteristics (torque, RPM,etc.) five times the specs on the 100kg motor). I t has full characterization that has been optimized. It supports the required range of motor sizes required and is also scalable beyond a factor of safety of five. The design uses a high level of technical innovation, incorporating a variety of disciplines. The team demonstrated strong use of engineering skills acquired. The subsystems operate at optimized level and can be easily adapted to changing platforms. The overall system is very user friendly and doesn't require a lot of previous knowledge in order to operate.
