FD Customer Constraints

Customer requested milestones, progress reports, and expected product

Design, build, and implement a data acquisition system that allows for the collection of multiple parameters for normal/failure operations. The team should be able to show interpretation of the data through ability to plot variable against each other. An user interface allows for easy use of the system with clear format of the data collected into a database. Guidelines and documentation need to be maintained to allow for a proper hand off to future RIT projects (SD and master's) as well as Dresser-Rand employees and customers. See the "Detailed Course Deliverables" section for more specifics.

Customer and Sponsor Involvement

Sponsor: Dresser-Rand Comapny

Dresser-Rand plans to offer insights and contact through the Senior Design project to ensure that personalization of the system to their products is achieved. This will include knowledge of important parameters and faults of interest to themselves. Through Dresser-Rand contacts and resources, fault guidelines and implementation can be achieved. Successful integration into Dresser-Rand products is dependent on maintaining proper contact throughout Senior Design. The Dresser-Rand contact will participate in all project reviews and deliverables. Trips down to Dresser-Rand facilities to view operations and product fabrication will be done in Senior Design I. The sponsor will participate with team communications electronically, through the possible use of web site as well.

Faculty Guide: Dr. Margaret Bailey

The team will be expected to carry out the vast majority of their interactions with the Team Guide. The sponsor will be available for a series of meetings during the course of the project, and will meet with a group of teams during the beginning of SD1 to lay out common goals, objectives, and philosophies for the project's purpose. The guide will lay the ground work for what RIT is trying to achieve by running this project.

The sponsor has allocated $8000 to this project.

Very Rough Mock Budget

The team will be required to keep track of all expenses incurred with their project with proper reasoning behind their decisions.

Purchases for this track will be run through Dr. Margaret Bailey.
