Step 2. Interpret Raw Data in Terms of Customer Needs

  1. The main objective of the project is to develop a method for data acquisition of key parameters from an air compressor that can be used in the future for comparison of performance characteristics.
  2. The solution for the project should be generic for implementation onto multiple Dresser-Rand products.
  3. The control systems and signal processing methods should integrate in current Dresser-Rand systems as much as possible.
  4. Provide a user interface for operation and interpretation of data acquisition.
  5. Fault data needs to be collected with clearly documented procedures.
  6. The system should provide data on faults that generate thermo/fluids and vibrational responses.

Step 5. Reflect on the Results and the Process

The scope of the project got narrowed down a lot in this project with the identification of key needs and difficulties that would probably be occurred with the development of a complete fault detection system. This is not within the scope of the project, just data acquistion and ability to collect failure data.
