P09232: UAV Airframe B

Project Summary Project Information

The mission of the Airframe B group is to provide the ideal unmanned aerial platform for imaging. The preliminary design will be based upon the "Split Decision" aircraft originally designed by the RIT Aero Club. The aircraft must be capable of accommodating a payload designed to take images. The aircraft must operate remotely from the ground.

Specific roles and responsibilities of varying team members will be divided according to academic major and specialty.

  • Aero Option Engineers (2)
    • Airfoil selection
    • Wing/Tail Positioning
    • Weight Balance
    • Control Surface Design
  • Mechanical Engineers (2)
    • Strength Improvement
    • Weight Reduction
  • Electrical Engineer (1)
    • Controller Selection
    • Servo Selection
    • Wiring

This group will provide the platform which all other groups must interface with. This aircraft will transport the cargo being designed by the Payload group, and utilize the control system from the Controls group and the sensors from the Measurements group.
