Detailed Design Grading

  1. Bill of Materials: 3 pts
    • Initial Draft:
      • Wires
      • Sensors
      • MCUs
      • Assorted resistors/ capacitors for interfacing between sensors and MCU
      • Test fixtures equipment
    • Dr. D: We need to know the scope of testing...how many sensor-MCU systems are we testing?
    • Dr. Phillips said one sensor from many types, not couple of sensors of few types. How do we justify the testing?
      • This is for us to decide. If we decide to test the arm, we need to theorize possible solutions for test the spine, and leg so future teams can take it from there without having to re-start the entire project.
  1. Drawings/Schematics: 5 pts
    • Dr D: What do we do for this section??
      • CAD drawings, schematics, for testing, for interface. Mostly all of the test plan in drawings.
  1. Feasibility Analysis: 7 pts
    • Dr. D: Are we testing all sensors and mcu interface- a lot of code?
    • Dr. D: Are we testing for for back, arm, leg?
      • As mentioned above, if we decide to test one type of sensor, we need to theorize possible solutions for test other sensors. This way, future teams can take it from there without having to re-start the entire project.
  1. Risk Assessment and actions to minimize risks-detailed design phase: 3 pts
    • Constantly update risk assessment.
    • We are multiplying the numbers, not add them: Done
    • Added risk of initialization/ zeroing.
    • Added risk of "drift" with position sensors.
  1. Knowledge & understanding of design: 7 pts
  1. Plan to meet Customer Needs/Engineering Specifications including a Preliminary Test Plan: 7 pts
    • David and Jim- Test Plan
    • Dr. D: Preliminary due for detailed design- how MUCH is due?
      • Pretty much the entire test plan since our is more a testing than building project, a lot is expected in this section.
  1. Detailed Design Review Execution: 5 pts
