P11543: Variable LED Hemispherical Imager

Identify Customer Needs

Table of Contents

Step 1. Gather Raw Data From Customers

Interactions with Customers

Initial customer meeting

Second customer meeting

Step 2. Interpret Raw Data in Terms of Customer Needs

The customer wants at least 2 LED Clusters with 7 individually addressable LED's. The LED's need to cover the entire visible light spectrum and their intensity must be adjustable through a simple software interface. The clusters will then be placed in a hemisphere at known vertices and will illuminate a sample area. There will be a camera (provided by the customer) that will take a picture of the sample area to help understand the material properties and appearance of the object under different lighting qualities.

Step 3. Organize the Needs into a Hierarchy

An objective tree is available for download here.

Step 4. Establish the Relative Importance of the Needs

Needs Summary
Need Importance Relative Difficulty Delegated Discipline
Individual Intensities of LEDs 5 4 EE
Easy Software Interface 3 3 CE
Power Constraint 1 1 EE
