- Three loading cases analyzed:
- Case 1: minor peak at flip near start of stroke, 24.5 degrees
- Case 2: major peak mid-stroke, 29.1 degrees
- Case 3: minor peak at flip near end of stroke, 65.0 degrees
StressAnalyzed for each case, considering the base end of the boom to be a fixed support. Loads and moments considered on all three axes. Stress components in all directions determined. vonMises failure criterion used, all cases passed
Life CalculationsRelate cyclic loading to yield and ultimate strength. To analyze effects of multiple loads determined mean and alternating vonMises Stresses. Endurance limit determined through Marin factors and compared to stresses using Goodman, Soderberg, Gerber, and Yield Line fatigue theory.
