Project Summary Project Information

Project Objective: This project is being done as an initial venture into designing and constructing an optical guitar pickup for Dr. Dorin Patru. It is not meant to construct a whole electric guitar, but rather just the optical pickup unit and any processing unit as well. The intent is to design for the capability of temporary mounting onto any guitar, which may later be adjusted and improved for a specific guitar. The challenge is to determine the optimal specifications for mounting location and optical components which will result in the most accurate data possible. This accurate data will be key in isolating the notes produced by each string.
