Benchmarking

Capetown Project at WPI - This is a large scale human waste pasteurizer that was tested by Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1997.

CooKit Solar Cooker - This is a low cost solar cooker that is already used in developing countries. This is the approximate size of the conceptual design.

Our group went through several stages in determining the concept we were going to choose. In the first phase, brainstorming, we created a Morph Chart listing all of the possible solutions to the needs we had to meet for our client. We then created six concepts, from cheap and durable to expensive and powerful, and ranked them in Pugh Charts against two separate datums, the Capetown Project and an average DIY solar cooker. The final phase took the top three designs from our Pugh Chart and meshed them together to form the concept we have agreed upon above.
