Project Summary

Dresser-Rand donated a reciprocating air compressor to RIT for health monitoring research purposes, and over the past several quarters, senior design teams have been working on the compressor for educational and research purposes.

Our MSD group has been asked to continue work on the compressor by improving it's oscillatory behavior, monitoring its wearable rider rings through rod-drop, as well as characterize its heat rejection system.

Our group will need to produce predictive theoretical models, confirm the models with empirical data and implement respective countermeasures to achieve our goals.
