---|---|---|---|
The primary purpose of the Skipper's Chair is to allow any disabled individual full control over the steering of the sailboat. Designed for approximately ninety percent of the population, the major goal of the current project is to maximize the number of readily available parts within the system. In turn, this would reduce the labor needed to manufacture each part to custom specs., while reducing cost. The system also needs to be greatly reduced in weight. Ultimately, the chair must be usable in training, recreation, and competitive activities. The two main changes that we are looking to improve upon from the last iteration, P13032, are the steering mechanism and the overall stability of the system. The sailboat model that this will be tailored to will be the Sonar Series. For the overall background information for this project, view the Project Readiness Package |
