RequirementsCustomer needs were determined through interviews with Dr. Rob Stevens, who is acting as a proxy customer to Boeing, and from one limited call with Kevin Meredith at Boeing.
Engineering requirements were derived from the customer requirements. Specification limits for critical specifications such as heat input and power output were set to customer expectations, and others were determined through research.
House of Quality
A House of Quality and pareto chart were constructed from the requirements to determine what specifications were most critical. Unsurprisingly, the most important requirements related directly to power generation and battery charging. Other specifications such as waterproofing scored lower because they indirectly contribute to the success of the project.
The constraints of this project is that it uses thermoelectrics enclosed underwater to charge batteries, and it fits within the proposed budget.
