Design Motivation

One of the major customer needs is to reduce the effort for the user. We intend on accomplishing this task by increasing the gear ratio from 1:24 to 1:28 by implementing a second shaft, and by shifting the movement from the user's arms to their legs, which are much stronger.

We had originally hoped to use a 1:72 gear ratio, but found that it would be too hard for the users to start up. To make sure our gear ratio was reasonable, Kyle developed an Excel spreadsheet.
