Project Information
|
Gleason is an industry leader in gear
manufacturing. Since the late 1800s, Gleason has
been providing customers with quality, accurate,
rugged gear cutting machines. Being located in
Rochester, NY, Gleason is a great company for RIT
to work with.
A gear loader jaw assembly is responsible for
holding a gear blank while being transferred in and
out of the work chamber of the Gleason machine.
This is typically part of an automation option for
high production use at companies such as Ford and
GM. Currently Gleason inspects individual
components of the gear jaws but does not inspect
the final assemblies. This has led to errors at the
customer level causing damage to machines and
downtime.
