Team Vision for Detailed Design Phase
- Our team planned to modify our tester model based on feedback during the preliminary design review about the placement of our load cell. We also wanted to continue writing an Arduino program for our stepper motor and load cell.
- During this phase, our team revised our model based on advice from our guide. Additionally, we wrote a prototype program for our tester that will be debugged once we resolve an issue with our stepper motor.

Load Cell Placement Analysis
The above analysis demonstrates that placing the load cell on the bottom of the dowel will result in a lower proportion of error in our measurements. Our group also redesigned our design of the tester base in order to fully eliminate issues with the gauntlet width causing measurement error.
This is the prototype code that our group plans to begin debugging, and eventually begin testing with.

This will be a document meant to guide the end user through our test procedure and our programs, both of which we will provide online. Our group will continue to update this as we build our apparatus and begin actual testing with it.
Design Review Materials
Plans for next phase
- As a team, we plan to build our tester model and refine it based on problems we run into during and after construction. We also plan to continue working on our software and electrical schematics due to some issues we ran into with our stepper motor.
- Below is an outline of our roles for the upcoming semester.
