Team Vision for Preliminary Detailed Design Phase

During the Preliminary Design Phase, it was our team’s primary goal to start compiling the required documentation for our Detailed Design Review, as well as continuing to refine our design. Important project documents such as the Functional Decomposition, Customer Requirements, and Engineering Requirements had to be updated and revised to reflect changes, while new documents such as test plans and feasibility studies on our systems had to continue to be generated.

In order to organize our work and display our system design, we decided to break this phase into the following sections:

Project Management Documents

  1. Problem Objective Statement
  2. Customer Requirements
  3. Stakeholders
  4. Engineering Requirements
  5. House of Quality
  6. Use Scenario
  7. Functional Decomposition
  8. Morphological Table
  9. Pugh Table
  10. Benchmarking
  11. Bill of Materials
  12. System Use Manual
  13. Risk Assessment
  14. Gantt Chart
  15. Operations Manual
  16. MSDII Project Plan

Plans For Next Phase

For the next phase, we plan on completing our robust design, and beginning to validate our subsystems through physical testing rather than theoretical calculation. By the end of the next phase, we hope to be in a position where we are able to start small-scale testing immediately after returning from break. To meet this goal, all schematics and project documents must be complete, components procured, and test plans written.
