Phase Objective Statement

The overall objective of this project is to provide SPX with a telemetry system capable of transmitting strain data from gauges attached to an operating impeller to a user interface of our choice. All transmission and reception must be wireless, and both gauges and telemetry systems must have reasonable life cycles.

This phase is dedicated to high level concept development for our system as well as narrowing down telemetry system and strain gauge choices to final candidates. Feasibility analyses for both strain gauge and battery life are included in this phase, and serve as a sanity check for our choice of system components. Research and benchmarking are of crucial importance to this stage, as we are getting closer to component purchase and validation.

Concept C is a reference to the old SPX system. Noted from the Pugh Tables, Concept A and B are far superior to C, with A being even better than B. From this analysis, it follows that Concept A is the best option.
