Prelim test of underwater discharge

3 mosfet switch - separate heatsinks

New high power amp design

15-20 minute test

Spark plug tip -> aluminum plate

Very small gap

300-500hz

-50% duty cycle

2 drops of green food coloring

Some lightening in color

Some particulate creation

Lots of heat

Lots of small bubbles

400Hz - 80% duty cycle

2 drops of green food coloring

Lightening of top layer

lots of particulate creation

some heat

some bubbles

no coloring

some discoloration

lots of particulate creation

Test 3 - New Power Switching Hardware

6 mosfet switch - same heatsink

MSD HVC Coil 2

air -> air

Preliminary tests revealed issues with electrical interference

put switching transistors in metal box

seems to have helped a little bit

case grounded with alligator clip

putting oscilloscope from box to arduino ground helped too - I think

Still lots of issues with thermal runaway on power chips

4 have broken since change to new design

most show melting / cracking around sink pin

one literally exploded from the center

Test 4 - First Methylene Blue Test

6 mosfet switch

MSD 8222 Coil

Hybrid discharge

Much better electrical interference

No thermal issues

dye disappeared gradually

Never went away entirely

Combined with reddish color from corroding steel hardware in water?
