Team Members & Roles

Robert Wieber: Team Lead/Mechanical Engineer
I am a Mechanical Engineering student at RIT from Clarksville, TN. As a member of the Naval ROTC program at the University of Rochester, I have had many experiences and professional courses centered around leading teams, large and small, to great success. Through my experiences in this program numerous past roles on COOP and in other groups, I plan on holding this team to a high level of quality and leading us on to the successful completion of our project.
Colton Scott: Webmaster/Mechanical Engineer
I am a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student at RIT, graduating in May, 2016. I have previous experience in process improvement and project planning from my two co-ops at GE:Aviation and Keurig. After graduation I will be returning to Boston, MA to begin my career as a mechanical engineer.
Jacob Daniels: Mechanical Engineer
I'm a 5th year Mechanical Engineer on track to graduate in May 2016. I've been on co-op with GE Aviation and BorgWarner, and I'm continuing my Summer co-op at Delphi TCR part time throughout the school year as an Advanced Manufacturing and Process Engineer. After graduation, I'd like to continue working in Robotics.
Tyler Jones: Purchasing/Electrical Engineer
I am currently a fifth year student in Electrical Engineering and will be graduating in May 2016. I have previous experience in design and troubleshooting from my multiple co-op block expereince with Welch Allyn.After I graduate I plan to find a career outside of Rochester.
James Oddy: Communications/Electrical Engineer
Currently I am in my last year of RIT as an Electrical Engineering student. Some field experience I was involved with pertained to Programmable Logic Controllers, Data and Acquisition Control System's, and Research in Development of Hand drills.
Jake Vavricka: Lead Electrical Engineer
I am a 5th year Electrical Engineering student at RIT expecting to graduate May, 2016. I have previous co-op experience working with RF power generators at MKS Instruments. I hope to find a career in renewable and self sustaining energy once I graduate.

Team Values and Norms

What are the expectations for team behavior?
  • Each team member is equally accountable for showing up on time unless previously discussed
  • Each team member is expected to be honest and respectful
  • Each team member is expected to efficiently communicate to other team members
  • Each team member will be held to their work commitments
  • Each team member will complete their assigned work and seek help when required
How will the team establish balanced distribution of work?
  • Each team member will confirm their assigned tasks at the end of each meeting
  • Each team member will raise any scheduling concerns (upcoming tests, trips etc. ) before tasks for the meeting are set
How will the team regulate roles and responsibilities?
  • Each team member will be assigned a team role based on their availability and skillset
  • Each team member will complete their required tasks according to their role, unless otherwise discussed
How will the team interact with the engineering guide?
  • The team will seek constant feedback from the engineering guide
  • The team will make their assigned tasks and peer evaluations available to the guide at all times
  • The team will understand that all criticism from the engineering guide and customer is not meant personally
How will the team communicate with eachother?
  • Each team member will make themselves available in the "group me" chat group as often as feasible
  • Each team member will keep their tasks updated in the "Task Schedule" page
  • Each team member will be honest and straight forward when they observe an issue
How will the team make descisions?
  • Each team member is expected to share their ideas and concerns with the team until the team arrives at a final descision
  • Each team member understands that if they do not share their conserns during the descision making process, they forfit the right to be upset with the outcome
  • Each team member's skill and expertice will be weighted when narrowing down ideas
What are the expectations for integrity and responsibility?
  • Each team member is expected to maintain respect for all other members at all times, especially when disagreeing
  • Each team member is expected to be truthful and honest with the status of their tasks at all times, especially when they are falling behind
  • Each team member is expected to admit when they need help completeing tasks. we succeed or fail together
How will the team manage conflict?
  • Each team member is expected to voice their conserns during group meetings.
  • The team will handle an issue during the same meeting as it was raised
    • If the team is unable to handle an issue during the same meeting as it was raised, the team will be expected to ask their engineering guide for help
    • Only then will the team seek help from the MSD staff
