Summary of Deliverable & Final StepsThe team has achieved most of the requirements for this project. Some issues came up during testing that need to addressed by the team who will be taking over the project.
- Poppet Sealing Issue:The poppets do not seal the valve holes completely. This may be due to the material of the poppets. The team has a few suggestions on fixing this issue: a) Installing o-rings on valve openings b) Increasing the taper on the valve openings c) Changing the material of the poppets.
- Heat Generation Issue: After testing the final assembly, it was noticeable that the solenoids generate a lot of heat after running for a relatively short amount of time. Relays and thermals pads were added to the system to increase heat dissipation. However, the vessel still gets fairly hot. The team has a few suggestions on fixing this issue: a) Decreasing the solenoid cover thickness b) Using a small gauge wire
- Electrical Housing: It is recommended to using a housing for all the electrical components and wiring for clean appearance of the project and also safety.
- Interfaces: There is currently a LabView program sends signals to the solenoids and valves while collects data from the displacement and pressure sensor. However, this program needs a feed back loop in order to be able to generate the desired pressure profile.
