MSD II Prep

Team Vision for Build & Test Prep Phase

For the Week 5 review, the team will provide updates on each of the three subsystems. The first few weeks of MSD II will be used to begin the development of all three (electrical, mechanical, software) in parallel. Team members will be allocated as follows:

Arshia will work to refine the software flow chart and to begin developing the software accordingly. Nick and Emmanuel will work on completed the layout for the PCB that the switches will be attached to. Carolyn and Jackie will get the second iteration switch activator (shown on EDGE) 3D printed and will test to ensure it works as planned. They will also design and print a second iteration of the casing for the electrical components. Nicole will act to ensure all three subsystems are being designed in a way that they will be compatible with each other when it comes time for the subsystem integration phase. She will essentially be the link between the different “departments” of the team. All members will work on rapid prototyping where it’s appropriate and will learn how to 3D print components through use of The Construct. In addition to the subsystems design, Emmanuel and Nicole will work to lead the Imagine RIT proposal for P17001.

Test Plans

The test plan document was updated to ensure each test plan has an owner, and that each engineering requirement has a test plan to ensure that the engineering requirement is met. We also added the following flow chart to make sure the tests are done in a logical order.

Instructions

  1. Ensure test plans are in place
  2. Ensure that all applicable test standards have been cited (e.g., ASTM)
  3. Ensure all ordered materials have been received
  4. Ensure team has space and equipment necessary to begin building and testing
