Heart Pump Updates

The drawings were updated so that the Pneumatic Slot Ring was machinable and to make final mentioning and location adjustments of holes. Two options were generated. One mimics the original shape and the other is a circle. Option 1 is more desirable because it fits closer to the base of the ventricle. Option 2 was generated in the event that machining option 1 is too difficult or not probable.

Labview Updates

The flow meter program was adapted to use a counter to receive more accurate measurements of flow. This program is optimized in comparison to the original program and produces data without significant noise.

Build Status

The Ventricle Hydraulic Ring was machined and the holes are tapped so that the connections to the valves can be attached easily. The Ventricle Pneumatic Cap was machined and is show fitting with the acrylic cylinder. A o-ring may be used to help with the seal.

The Ventricle Pneumatic Slot Ring was not machined past drilling the outer holes. This is because the drawings were being adapted to make the slot machinable. The original problem was that the drawing was made using ellipses and the machine shop can not produce that shape without knowing radii.

Bacterial film buildup testing:

Demonstrates visual bio-film buildup using faucet water and no visual bio-film on inner lining of De-ionized water.

Due to absence of visual bio-film buildup within the inner tubing using De-ionized water, this will be used as a water source for the heart pump and circulatory system model.

Testing silicone degradation testing via Alconox solution and Isopropyl alcohol:

Submerged silicone sections in Alconox solution and Isopropyl alcohol solution.

Due to absence of material property changes using Alconox solution for both types of silicone, Alconox will be used as the lab cleaning solution for either type of silicone.
