Test Results Summary

At the beginning of this phase a detailed test plan was generated. The two conducted during this phase were Solenoid Frequency Testing and Input Pressure Regulation Testing.

Conclusions

This testing was informally done last semester. The formal testing was completed in this phase.The solenoid continued to function for the entire duration of this testing. The testing heart beat frequency began 10 BPM below and ended 10 BPM above the range. This ensures that the solenoid can perform above the desired requirements.

Conclusions

The testing was determined to require additional testing. The change in the lower value is due to the sensor drift in the Pasco Sensor. The fluctuation in the data show that additional testing on the hardware needs to be done. The possibility of adding a capacitor could dampen the noise and allow the regulation to be more accurate.

Additions to System

Over Vacuum Switch

Details can be seen in the problem matrix under problem 2 Vacuum Pressure Balance. The hardware was found in the MSD surplus and attached to the system to vent excessive vacuum to avoid over inflation.

Relocation of Blow-Off Valve

The relocation of the blow off valve was an adaptation because of the over vacuum switch. The new best location was using a pressure line to the box for the blow-off valve.

Build Progress

Tanks

Both of the first two plates have been machined. The rods were cut to size then the cylinder was cut to size. They were fitted together with minor tolerance adjustments. The tank to atmosphere was altered to have a larger hole in it. This is so that a plastic capped pipe can be inserted into it to assist with adjusting the preload.

The electrical system was organized to make it easier to troubleshoot.

The heart pump seal was converted from silicone tape to an O-ring because the silicone tape was not easy to obtain. Also, it needs to be replaced more often than the O-ring would. The O-ring currently is difficult to place since there was no indent machined for it's placement. It is currently being discussed if the team wants to machine an indent at this time.
