The above screenshot shows Mission Planner, the flight control software that we are using. This picture demonstrates that we were able to get the Pixhawk flight controller to communicate the with control software and obtain a GPS lock. The Pixhawk flight controller will be on the drone and the control software will be running on a laptop at the base station.

Obtaining a GPS lock with the Pixhawk flight controller was difficult. The above screenshot shows how we used software from U-Blox (the company that manufactured the GPS), called u-control. We had to "cold start" the GPS so that it would look for satellites in the United States rather than China - it's country of origin.
