Team Vision for Build & Test Prep Phase

All of our documents for this phase can be found in the following directory: MSD 2/Phase I

During this phase, our team goal was to make the finishing touches on our designs and finalize any documents needed for the upcoming phases. We needed to re-evaluate our risks and requirements to ensure that we are still on task. We also worked to refine our project plan in greater detail.

Throughout this phase, we made great strides on our designs and with a lot of our documentation. Our project plan is now drawn out in much greater detail for the entire semester. We have submitted purchase requests and are pending approval.

Some of our design updates can be seen here along with additional concepts: Design images.

Test Plan Summary

All of our up to date test plans can be found in the following directory: Test Plans.

Each plan correlates to one or more of our Engineering Requirements. A summary page will soon be developed where all of the results will be stored. In order to standardize our test plans, we've added a new cover page with a lot of pertinent information for each plan. The template is shown below.

Plans for next phase

This next phase will be slightly abbreviated for our team as we held our Phase I review later than others, however we should still be able to make significant progress. The main focus will be on getting out materials in hand before the end of Phase II. This is largely based on supplier lead times, so it very well may not go according to plan, but we have extra space in our plan to account for it. We are also focused on preparing all the documentation and preparation needed for machining and assembling the main shredder subsystem. This entails doing whatever we can to improve our assembly plan, part drawings, and finalizing the stand design. This next phase will also include research and decisions on the Shear pin specifications. At the end of the phase we hope to have all stock material delivered as well as all small components purchased locally.

Vision for Imagine RIT

A primary goal of our project is to deliver all of our previously shown subsystems as a functioning prototype for demonstration at Imagine RIT on May 6th, 2017. It is our hope to create an interactive experience where festival attendees will be able to operate our system and practice eliminating plastic waste. We are hoping to have a detailed display as well as a functioning system to demonstrate our project's value to RIT's guests. Our proposal is currently in a draft phase and will be submitted by David on or before February 17th.
