Subsystem Build & Test
Table of Contents
To view all up to date documents and files for this phase, please look in the Phase II folder.
One of the more critical components to this phase is our complete design package which can be found here: Design Package. This includes all part drawings, exploded views, and a comprehensive Bill of Materials.
We have also received some of our finished components. Some can be seen in the photo below.
Team Vision for Subsystem Level Build & Test PhaseDuring this phase, our team goal was to bring about finalization of all outstanding documents, designs, and part orders in order to be fully prepared for assembly and test of our system. We wanted to develop a complete design package, a complete test plan, and a complete assembly plan. We also wanted to be sure that any material we received was submitted for necessary machining. Our ultimate goal was to be as ready as possible to begin building when all the materials arrive.
Throughout this phase we made great progress on these goals and are in a much better position for building our shredder. We have finalized a high detail design package of all of our subsystems which includes Part Drawings, a full Bill of Materials, and exploded views of our subsystems. We received our first shipment of material, which included the hexagonal rod which will drive our system, and all of the 5mm and 6mm sheet steel which will be water jet cut to make our shredding subsystem. These have all been submitted for water jet cutting and we are waiting on the machine shop to finish them. We have made a comprehensive list of the remaining parts we need to order and are submitting them for approval once we hammer out the final details.
Along with that progress, we have also refined our Test plans to be more thorough and descriptive. We have added more measurable goals and outlined the details of each plan in an easy to view template format. The test plans are all individually accounted for on our project plan. We made sure to address our risks and problems as the develop and have kept live documents of those updated as the project has progressed.
Test Results Summary
Since our material is not finished being processed, we are unable to complete any of our tests at this time. The testing procedure is delayed until Phase III.
All of our test plans can be found here All of our up to date test plans can be found in the following directory: Test Plans.
Risk and Problem Tracking
Our Problem Tracking live document is found here:Problem Tracking.
Our Risk Management live document is found here:Risk Management.
Additionally, our Engineering Requirements have been updated and they now include Ergonomic Requirements. Those can be found here:Engineering Requirements.
Plans for next phaseAt the end of next phase, we should have some assembled subsystems and should be able to begin some initial testing. Our materials should all have arrived and should be ready for building. At the end of this phase we would like to deliver a somewhat functional shredding sub assembly.
