Detailed Design

Team Vision for Detailed Design Phase

During this phase, our team planned to complete every part of the design process so that we are ready to start the hands-on portion by next semester. We plan to complete all 3D modeling, with a finalized assembly complete with engineering drawings for machined and modified parts. We need a complete Bill of Materials with all the necessary information to budget and order the parts. Deciding on parts is an essential part of this phase. Our Matlab simulation must contain the most recent values that we can size our valves. Test plans must be specified, our risk assessment must be updated and we must discuss any preparatory plans for MSDII.

We were able to create assembly and sub assembly models for each of our major components. We then created engineering drawings of each of the parts that needed to be machined. A finalized bill of materials was created to compile all of the parts needed to be built. We also finalized our flow modeling to size the solenoid valves that will be purchased which ensures that the valves will work for the setup. Draft test plans were created so that we know what we will be testing and the time frame for the tests.

Developing additional flow characteristic models for accurately modeling and sizing solenoid valves.

Here the flow coefficient through the poppet valves is varied from 0.5 to 0.7 showing fairly consistent pressure equilibrium between intake and exhaust in the pressure vessel.
