Preliminary Detailed Design
Team Vision for Preliminary Detailed Design Phase
During the Preliminary Detailed Design, the overall system was to be designed on a subsystem level. CAD models created in Creo Parametric were to be created in order to show the overall system assembly. A preliminary Bill of Materials would be produced as well. Further flow analysis to show how fast we can fill the pressure vessel would also be done.
The team has done several subsystem Pugh charts in order to select the best subsystem concepts that accomplish the updated list of engineering requirements. Analysis has been done to show the vessel pressure over time given that the poppets will open and provide an outlet of air while the inlet valve is filling the vessel. A preliminary CAD model has been constructed. A base frame is made from 8020 extruded aluminum. Both the intake vessel and back pressure vessel will be attached directly to the frame. The back pressure collector vessel and the valve attachment fixture still need to have a final design. A preliminary Bill of Materials outlining the main materials needed for the project was created. The ongoing list of project risks was also updated.
