P17751: Vaccine Pricing Evaluation


Project Summary Project Information

A vaccine-pricing evaluation model (ABP) is used to determine vaccine process that will benefit both the producers (by creating profits) and the consumers (by being affordable). This model should examine all kinds of markets in different countries including shrinking markets. A model has been developed but it does not explore all market possibilities, there is data missing and the performance should be better. The goal of this project is to understand what happens with the prices of vaccines as smaller markets and shrinking markets are included. The new model will explore the profit and cost of different scenarios and adapt the ABP to solve the problems. The resulting model should comply with budget constraints and propose a best experimental design based and speed and prediction error.

Problem Definition phase:

  • Understand our project, the deliverable, customer and engineering requirements
  • Start a tentative plan for the project
  • Look for research in similar areas and see what we could apply
  • Very broad at the beginning

Systems Design Phase:

  • Focus more on budgets and creating a systems to design an experiment
  • System flow map (input and outputs)
  • Morphological table (programs to use for experimenting)
  • How is the research connected?
  • Feasibility analysis

Preliminary Design Phase

  • What are our variables and what things need to be taken into account
  • Start obtaining data or resources
  • Define flow diagram of our experiment (Input, Process and Output)
  • Think how we can model the data

Detailed Design Phase:

  • Obtain data
  • Design an experiment'
  • Perform a prototype and analyze results

Build and Test Prep Phase

  • Get needed server infrastructure in place
  • Started outlining technical paper
  • Changed to a new progress tracking method
  • Worked on a 2nd experimental design to manage price drops and market segmentation
  • Started with 15 of the 90 vaccines to keep scope under control

  • Modeled price drop scenarios
