4/22/18 Full Scale Hot FireThe team completed the full scale hot fire of the finalized engine on 4/22/18. Though it was not entirely a success due to an overpressurization event, there were many takeaways and learnings that will help lead to future success on the next iteration of this engine. Photos from the day of the full scale test can be seen below.
2/20/18 TestingAs seen below, our team completed a small scale test fire using a solenoid valve to begin the oxidizer flow. Full video can be found here.
2/8/18 TestingAs seen below, our team our team tested our phenolic insulation and it performed well insulating the thermocouple on the back. The full video can be found here.
From this test fire, we were able to get combustion from the fuel grain, but it was not very stable. Moving forward, we believe we need to increase the flow rate of nitrous oxide. We also learned that utilizing a sparkler as an igniter for preliminary testing purposes works.
