Project Summary Project Information

A lithium ion battery pack is required to power the RIT Electric Vehicle Team's second generation electric motorcycle, REV2. The current pack developed by EVT is responsible for storing energy and providing power to the traction motor. For the second generation bike, it does not store enough energy due to a more demanding race at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The original pack is also not water and dust proof, and is too large of form factor for the new application.

The goal of this project is to develop a battery pack that is better equipped than EVT's current solution. It must be as light and small as possible, and protect itself from the effects of heat, dust, and water. It must be of a form factor that easily fits within the typical confines of a motorcycle frame, and provides adequate mounting points for the team to interface with. The final deliverable will be a functional design, race-worthy battery pack.
