Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods (SOIL) is an organization with the goal of providing access to household toilets in Haiti. Currently, the organization has a working model of a dry toilet; the toilet separates urine from feces into two different containment units for processing. While the households are responsible for managing the urine, SOIL provides a weekly service of feces removal and processing to create compost. The efforts of SOIL have already proven to improve the quality of life in the urbanized areas of Haiti where this program is implemented; the goal of our team is to improve upon the dry toilet design, taking into consideration customer feedback as well as the company’s vision for the project. The official PRP for the project can be found here. |
