Mechanical

The following load cases were chosen to be examined as they will represent the worst case scenarios of loading. Under telescope operations the mirror locations will fall within the points examined with these load cases.

FEA Results

FEA Results

The FEA results predict that mirrors 1 and 3 will fall within tolerance. Mirror 2 will not always be in tolerance as it is expected to vary in position by 700 microns, requirements are 500 microns. However, typically mirror 2 will be within tolerance because the FEA was to predict the worst case. The variation in position of mirror 2 has been approved by the customer and those who will be operating the telescope.

Team Plans

As a team, we are still waiting on some components to arrive. Once these components arrive, we will begin testing. We currently have secured lab space to begin testing. In the meantime, we are continuing to update our documents as much as possible.
