L3 is defense contracting company with a ground satellite manufacturing site in Victor, NY. Currently, the manufacturing warehouse has no standard flow of materials from entering the warehouse to moving to the production floor. The goal of this project is to create a standard materials flow process defining the movement of material from entering the warehouse to moving onto the production floor.
This project will allow L3 to better track materials throughout the warehouse and allow for better understanding of how the process is working through the use of metrics. Through an analysis of the current state, the team will collect baseline data from which standard work and materials flow definitions will be created. The purpose of the project is to create a set of documents to accompany the created process so that it can be handed off to the L3 team for implementation.
