Team Vision for System-Level Design Phase

During the System-Level Design Phase, the team planned to compare and contrast design ideas based on different sensors through thorough research and testing of bought sensors for chosen design ideas. We intended to create a clear functional decomposition to break down our project into it's base functionality then use these functions to look into components in a morphological chart. We also inten ded to use Pugh charts in order to aid in focused selection of criteria. It was intended that the team would go through testing each selected sensor for the relevant concepts in order to lead to a final concept choice.

The team was able to create a Functional Decomposition which allowed us to solidify our scope. A Morphological Chart was created, and used to determine 5 base concepts to test with unique sensors that were then analyzed using a Pugh Chart. The Pugh Chart enabled the team to visualize the top concepts that should be investigated further in the next phase. Preliminary tests on Hall effect sensors were started using MATLAB code to determine their feasibility for a design. We intend to test every selected sensor and possibly construct multiple prototypes in finding a more efficient composition for our final design.
