Team Vision for Build & Test Prep Phase

During the Build & Test Prep phase, the team clarified and expanded upon previously established test plans from the previous phase in MSD I. Each member crafted a relevant plan (either qualitatively or quantitatively) which correlated to their assigned subsystem. Each of these individual test plans include their respective Engineering Requirement references, as well as action plans, required materials, and test numbers.

The team also took the necessary steps to gather all of the ordered materials and create a structured plan for the manufacturing segment of the next phase. All non-ordered materials will then be either bought or gathered in order to position them for further assembly. This includes both woodworking and CAM-assisted machining of high-profile parts for the Crew-lock.

Test Plan Summary

Below, the team-created Testing Matrix compiles a list of each individual test plan, as well as the associated specification numbers tied to these plans. Desired values and measured outcomes are listed within the matrix, and future updates will change the status of each plan as they are completed. The step-by-step progress of each test plan will be described in later section to show relevant data and figures related to the results of the plans.

During this phase, the Risk Management document was updated and several encountered problems were detailed in a problem checking document. Throughout the next phases, this document will be updated to show newly encountered problems and a report of the appropriate actions to solve them.

By the next review, a solid amount of progress on the manufacturing and assembly of core subsystems must be presented in detail. The most vital subsystems will be the focus of the following weeks, and most of the team effort will be directed towards identifying any problems which could potentially delay the building and completion of these systems. The electrical power subsystem may not be available until further in the semester, so having a sturdy and functional build of the hardware is the most important proceeding step to take.
