Test Plans

Heating Element Test Plan

  1. Location:
    1. Machine shop (welding area)
  2. Tests to be run:
    1. Measure temperature at different distances (infrared thermometer)
    2. Check for reaction of materials being heated (ABS/HIPS)
    3. How long does one propane tank last?
    4. Heat settings
      1. Is it going to be too hot? (100,000 BTU)
      2. Can we diffuse it/redirect it?

Vacuum System Test Plan

Before construction of the full system, we plan to perform testing on the vacuum subsystem. This will help find any design problems in the subsystem and correct them before testing the system as a whole. We plan to test the following:
  1. Time to draw vacuum on one tank
  2. Time to release vacuum on tank
  3. Time to release vacuum through piping system
  4. Vacuum force drawn on mold/plastic (Qualitative)
  5. Full system testing
