MSD II: Project close-out

Expectations

Status Review

Current state of the project

The performance of the project currently is still in the prototyping stage; however, most of the requirements that the team either set or were given too, were accomplished. The electrical components of the project do not overheat, the machine relatively responses well to machine operations, the machine fits in the lab.

Requirements

Requirements

The machine is not portable at the moment. It would require to be disassembled for it to be transported. Due to not continuing with prototyping, the team was not able to test and implement if the machine can stop and prevent damage when braiding. The team was not able to demonstrate the braiding process again due to COVID19.

The current design is in a good stage to be picked up by a next team to continue. Most of the documentation has been written for the next team to relatively easily understand.

The team did well on budgeting the project and not utilize most of the budget.

The customer was satisfied with where the team finished. The customer understood that due to COVID19 there were a lot of challenges to overcome; however, the team was able to continue the work and deliver as much as possible.

Due to unforeseen situations, the scope of the project has been modified during MSD II. COVID19 made the team focus mostly on documentation part of the project rather than working on the prototype.

Due to COVID19 the schedule has been changed.

Being prepared for anything that could potentially affect either student's work or the project in general needs to be addressed. Not everything can be predicted, but taking precaution for a situation (such as sickness, family matter, budget cuts) that could postpone the work, need to be looked at and determined what the team should do in those times.

Everyone on the team was able to communicate with one another and continue the work even during the pandemic. The team did wonderful at keeping the pace and finishing each of their responsibilities.

The team utilized the task list on the google doc that was really effective for all of us to keep track of what work has been accomplished and what work still need completion. Not to mention, it was a great way to see who still struggles with certain tasks to help them. Despite the global pandemic, the team was on schedule to complete MSD II responsibilities. Utilizing the task list was truly effective for everyone to keep track of work.

Deliverables Checklist and Website Status

All tools have been returned, the project is in the MSD room. Gate review has occurred and all of the deliverables have been submitted.

Lessons learned, etc.

The team should be ready for anything that could potentially affect the project (team members sick, family matter, global pandemic). With proper preparation, the team could adapt to a situation and continue the work in the least damaging way. One way a team can be prepared for either a team member missing or being sick, is to establish who would take over someone's work and responsibilities in case they are gone.
